OuR Compaign Strategy



We the students of Mass Communication organised an awareness campaign for the women of Pakistan about the workplace harassment
The prime objective of the campaign was to spread awareness among the students regarding the workplace harassment and to inform about the law “The Protection Against Harassment of Women at Work Place 2010″.


The basic idea of this campaign was to inform students about the law that protects them from harassment. Many of women in Pakistan are not familiar with the law.


“We made pamphlets and brochures on awareness of harassment act and soon we want to distribute the pamphlets among the students of universities and colleges to spread awareness. In the pamphlet we tried to inform that ‘what is harassment?’ and the law,”

The law was enacted in 2010, by the government of Pakistan, to prevent sexual harassment at public and private workplaces. According to the Law, sexual harassment was declared a crime in the country.

 What is sexual harassment? 
Sexual harassment is defined as “any unwelcome sexual advance, request for sexual favors or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, when it interferes with work, is made a condition of employment or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.

There are two significant manifestations of Sexual harassment in the work environment, which are important to describe.

i) Abuse of authority
A demand by a person in authority, such as a supervisor, for sexual favours in order for the victim to keep or obtain certain job benefits, be it a wage increase, a promotion, training opportunity, a transfer or the job itself.

ii) Creating hostile environment
Any unwelcome sexual advance, request for sexual favors or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, which interferes with an individual's, work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile, abusive or offensive work environment.
